Since the day we started building, I always knew I wanted an entertainment area where we could fit a large table and still have space. We entertain so much during the year and seeing we’ve chosen a Mediterranean themed backyard, we decided the Early settler stone table and gorgeous metal chairs were the perfect fit. The table is 2.6metres and fits 8 of their chairs and it’s perfectly fitting for our theme. The colour is a beautiful sand and the features of the legs are just stunning. I chose gorgeous black wrought iron chairs that have the most beautiful pattern. I knew this would be a piece that lasts us many years and we’d make so many memories around it, sharing delicious food and stories.
It took me months to try and find a beautiful yet simple outdoor rug that actually fit perfectly. I came across this absolute beauty at interior Collections and it was perfect. It feels and looks like an indoor rug but it’s weather proof. I chose the natural colour and it’s so soft on the feet we are obsessed with it because the quality is amazing.
As most of you know by now, I have an obsession with old and interesting doors, filled with character, so when I came across these vintage church doors I had to have them because they’re vintage and its an arch door which fits our theme perfectly. They were a free marketplace find and the guy was giving away four of them so I took them all and restored 2, removing the undamaged hardware to create a gorgeous set with window grills using a plant stand. I sanded the mahogany stain and re-stained it and added the touch of Italy with teracotta pots. We intend on turning the doors into a small cupboard to house our outdoor cups and tableware, but until hubby gets onto it, might be a while so they’ll stay a feature for now.
The first thing I actually made for this space before anything arrived was the shelving. I bought 3 shadow boxes and created the rest out of cardboard and plaster and it ties in so perfectly with the space.
Overall I love how the space has transformed into a cosy yet simple Mediterranean haven using statement pieces. Setting tables is my favourite thing to do, so once the space was ready I quickly set it up with lots of my fav European inspired tones and pieces which gave me all the European feels. If we can’t travel right now, why not bring the setting to us right?
Best part is the furniture and rug are so neutral I can forever change the accessories and tablescape to create so many looks over the years. Hope you love it as much as we do! X
