Let’s all agree that the years 2020-2021 were a whirlwind of emotions filled with worry and uncertainty and lockdowns were no fun! We all wished we could travel without restrictions and just visit our fav places, but we couldn’t!
I decided to create our own little oasis in our backyard. A space filled with calming vibes and a spot to just sit and relax and listen to the water trickling and just forget where you were. Thanks to lockdown and cease of trades, this took a year longer than expected, but we got there in the end! Welcome to our little oasis.

I always knew I wanted an arch pavilion and when we started building it, we faced a few difficulties and for a second I thought I’d have to settle, but thank goodness it worked out. I designed the area with 3 arches and being a custom space, we had to work with what we had and find furniture that fit and this was a challenge, until I found a small business called Cartia Collective on Instagram that made gorgeous swings! I knew I had to have one! They custom made it and it was sent, only to live in the backyard for what seemed to be forever until restrictions lifted and trades caught up. But then we hung it and oh my gosh it’s beautiful! The craftsmanship is 10/10 and the cushions are all outdoor fabric and reasy to clean and wash. It’s so simple to hang and my new favourite spot to sit in.

Let’s talk about the tiles! You all know how much I love blue so it was a no brainer these were the tiles I chose. We’ve had them down for a few years now and I’m still in love with them. We tiled the space and a feature wall on the side as well as the water feature. The wall sconces I decided on fit perfectly with the Mediterranean theme of our garden and alfresco.

I styled the area with neutral tones to allow the tiles to really stand out and create a calm and relaxing vibe. The sheer curtains instantly gave the space a whimsical feel and textured cushions added the warmth needed to break up the white.

My hydrangea plant is the ultimate backdrop and this year it has produced the most stunning flowers. Oh and I had so much trouble finding an affordable table that actually fit so I made my own! It was such an easy DIY and i got exactly what I wanted for a fraction of the price, so winning! A few candles and earthy decor and we’re set.

I’m very pleased with how this space turned out and can’t wait to create memories with loved ones. The perfect nook to just put your feet up and swing your worries away:)
