Last summer we finally got to use our pool after a very long wait for it to be finished. Most of you know we opted for a mineral swim pool system so it was the first time experiencing this type of water and I’ve had so many questions about what the difference is, so i thought I’d explain why we chose mineral swim over a fully chlorinated pool.
We originally chose a salt water pool because we havw asthma and eczema in our family and wanted to choose the less harsh option. Then we found out about mineral pools and it was a no brainer for us. Its like swimming in magnesium which is good for your skin! We thought seeing that the kids would most likely be in tbe pool all day, we would feel less guilty this way. The mineral pool still uses chlorine to clean the pool, but a lot smaller quantity whilst the magnesium salts filter and purify it. Initially, we had to place several bags of the salt in the pool (this depends on the water quantity) and now we top up as needed and as advised by the pool shop.
Our towels dont smell anywhere near as strong as chlorinated pools and we feel no guilt swimming all day. So far we are happy with it all. Hope this answers all of your questions about the system. Below are some images of what the filter looks like and how we have it attached above the pumps.
